InPost launches Von Halsky, an AI shopping assistant in its parcel app, with over half a million beta sign-ups

Parcel-locker group InPost added an AI shopping assistant, Von Halsky, to its mobile app, after first putting the Polish Bielik chatbot in the app in December 2025. More than half a million consumers signed up for the beta and over 4,000 sellers joined. InPost began opening it gradually to its 17 million app users on 16 June 2026.

The problem

InPost's mobile app is used mostly to track parcels and open lockers. The company wanted to be present where online shopping starts, not only where it ends, and to give sellers a sales channel that does not charge commission, unlike a marketplace.

What they built

Von Halsky is a chat assistant, shown as a dog, inside the InPost Mobile app. A shopper types or speaks a request. The assistant searches the offers of partner shops, shows products in a carousel, remembers preferences and lets the shopper pay with InPost Pay and arrange delivery without leaving the app. A trade outlet reports that it runs on Bielik, a Polish language model that is open-weight (its files can be downloaded and run by anyone). InPost had earlier, in December 2025, put a separate Bielik chat in the app as part of a campaign with the SpeakLeash Foundation, which builds the model.

How they did it

InPost announced the beta on 16 March 2026 to a closed group of customers, with more than 4,000 sellers already on board, including large electronics, pharmacy and fashion retailers. It says it takes no commission from sellers on sales made through the assistant. On 16 June 2026 it began a gradual rollout to 17 million app users, with free delivery on qualifying orders until the end of August 2026. The app also got a redesigned home screen.

Results

InPost's CEO said more than half a million consumers signed up for the beta and several tens of thousands used it actively. The company does not publish sales or order figures for the assistant. At this stage the evidence is adoption and seller sign-ups, not business results.

Lessons for your project

  1. Test with volunteers first. InPost ran a beta with sign-ups before opening the assistant to the full user base.

  2. Use your own checkout to close the loop. InPost's payment service lets a shopper search, pay and arrange delivery in one chat window.

  3. Recruit supply before demand. More than 4,000 sellers were on board before launch, and InPost says it takes no sales commission from them.

  4. Consider a local-language open model. InPost backed Bielik, which a trade outlet says frees it from the price lists of US providers; check this on your own languages.

  5. Separate sign-ups from use. Of more than half a million beta applicants, only tens of thousands actively used the assistant, so plan adoption work beyond launch.

Caveats

  • InPost's own press releases are the only source for the beta, seller and rollout figures. Nobody independent confirms them, and InPost publishes no sales, order or conversion results for the assistant.
  • InPost's two press releases do not name the model behind Von Halsky. A trade outlet, iMagazine, says it is built on Bielik. InPost's own December 2025 page does confirm Bielik in the app as a separate public chat, run with the SpeakLeash Foundation.
  • The 'tens of thousands' who used the beta is a vague figure in the CEO's quote. Different trade articles give different numbers for beta participants; we use only the press release.
  • The deployed date is the March 2026 beta announcement, when a closed group of customers could test. General availability began on 16 June 2026 and is described as gradual.
  • InPost says free delivery with the assistant runs only until the end of August 2026, so early use may have been boosted by that promotion.
